(More customer reviews)I purchased this beautiful toaster/convection oven to use as a second oven for entertaining/holidays and for everyday use to cook for just the two of us.
First of all, it's darned beautiful to look at. It matches my stainless appliances and looks fabulous on my counter. The controls are very easy to use. It comes with 2 racks (although you're only supposed to use one at a time) and a baking pan/broiler tray. But the best thing is that it comes with a baking stone which sits in one of the racks and the oven itself is lined with baking stone material on either side. The back of the oven has the convection fan. All non-stone surfaces are of nonstick material, which makes it a cinch to clean.
In the month I've had it, I've used this amazing appliance to bake cakes and casseroles, broil shrimp, make pizza, roast tomatoes and chickens and even toast an english muffin! It passed every test with flying colors. The oven is large enough to fit a whole chicken for roasting - and did a great job.
I'd say the weak points are that you have to turn the oven around to get the crumb tray out (a minor inconvenience) and both the crumb tray and the baking pan tend to warp when the oven is hot.
To use the baking stone, you must preheat the oven for at least 30 minutes. Not a problem for me, as I preheated while waiting for my pizza dough to rise. Worked out great.
I'm delighted to give this my highest recommendation.

I am very safety minded and the thought of all that peanut oil at a high temperature and the open flame, well I just cant bring myself to buy one. I did, however purchase the Char-Broil Big Easy Oil-Less Infrared Turkey Fryer. So far in three weeks I have cooked three turkeys. Since I have never used a real deep fat turkey frier, the operational part of my review of the product is a bit one-sided. I can say that of all the appliances that have more than 2 moving parts, the ease of operation of the Big Easy is just that. Big and easy. The three turkeys I have cooked in the cooker were just under 12 pounds. The first was rubbed with olive oil, it was delicous and moist but a bit dark on the outside. The subsequent 2 were rubbed with peanut oil and had a better complection, but were just as moist and flavourful. I did experience a bit of overcooking of the drumsticks and wings. I believe that this could be cured by sheilding them with some aluminium foil (that will be my next experiment). I have yet to cook anything but turkeys, when I do though, I will make an addendum to this review. All in all, I am pleased with the product and highly praise its ease of use and safety in producing a nice fried turkey. My son is a proffesional Chef and agrees that my terminology is correct, oil has been used and as he states, "technically Dad, it is fried, but not deep fat fried" Thats ok by me.

GE WB44X5099 Oven Bake Element for conventional GE and Hotpoint Ovens Review

(More customer reviews)This heating element replaced one in our oven that may have been original with the oven (the oven came with the house, so we don't know how old the whole thing is). This heating element works great...maybe better than the old one. The only headache I had was screwing the plate into the wall of the oven. The screws are very short and they were a little fat for the holes that were there. But some extra elbow grease got them in and they are holding tight. And the old unit was attached with three screws. This unit only has two.
This was probably the cheapest heating element I could find and I really can't argue that it's a good investment.

(More customer reviews)We have now been using this set for 6 months. When we first received and began using them, the pans were perfectly nonstick so that food including eggs could be cooked without any oil, and cleaning was fast and easy. Unfortunately this is no longer true -- the pan we've used most often now requires oil in order than food doesn't stick, despite hand-washing and following the manufacturer's other directions. If no oil is used, the pan is like a traditional pan and not only does food stick, but the pan requires prolonged soaking and scrubbing to get it clean. You must also be careful not to stack the pans (chipping and scratching).
The pan handles do not get hot, but the lid handles do, so be prepared to use a potholder to move the lids.
The set must be hand-washed and handled carefully to avoid chipping, but this is not a problem for us.
I would have rated the set 5 stars had it retained its nonstick performance. The loss of the nonstick capacity and the subsequent difficulty with cleaning the pans drops my rating to two stars.
1/3/10 Edited to add: We've now been using this set for a year and I've noticed several minute to small chips out of the cooking surfaces of more that half the pieces. We do not use metal utensils (silicon only) and are careful with cleaning and storing. One piece has also absorbed the smell of the food that was cooked in it. I am now looking for a different set of cookware, and regret buying this one. While I prefer a "green," eco-friendly product, I think this one needs some improvements in quality and design.

07-24-09: Here's an update, Gang. We have two of these now, and they are still going strong. Do not put these in the dishwasher. My son made that mistake, and ruined his little griddle.

Steak Sizzler Platter With Wood Underliner Review

(More customer reviews)The only reason I gave this a "one star" rating is that you cannot give negative stars. The intent of steak sizzle platters is that the metal platters are heated, then placed on the insulating platform (wood or bakelite) so that the food sizzles and remains hot during service. The sizzlesplatters offered by Kegworks are soft aluminum (steak knives score them), the finish on the wood insulators is not heat resistant (it melts when the heated metal platters are placed upon the wood), the metal platters significantly discolor after one use and one wash. When we contacted the company about these issues, they pretty much said, "tough". So, don't buy from Kegworks. If you must buy from Kegworks for some psychotic reason, at least don't buy the steak platters from them.

(More customer reviews)1. It is easy to use. it does most of the work for you. The main thing is, follow the directions. Use exact amounts, IE measure with the correct containers, and you can't go wrong.
2.The bread comes out great. No chemicals or preservatives. Super home-made healthy taste you will notice. But note this: the bread is often not as sweet as store bread. It tastes a little different, so don't expect the exact same taste as you get in the store. Whether you like the bread or not is a matter of taste. The bread it makes is healthy and a little less sweet and more fresh.
3.the biggest loaf I reccomend it 1.5 lbs and not 2lbs despite the machine's advertised ability. I have not yet tried a 2lb loaf, but, the 1.5 lb loaf just about fills up the pan. Some jam recipes from sources other than this model's booklet can overflow the pan. Stick to 1.5 lb recipes as a max. The jam it makes is the "best jam I ever had".
4. cleaning takes 20 seconds.
5. saves money and prevents rip-offs.
6. Read the entire manual BEFORE you make any bread.
7.Takes some 3 hours to make a loaf.
8.Fresh bread with no chemicals, like the bread this machine makes, only stays good for about 3 days. Past that it will get stale. The breads with more starch (like whole wheat) will get stale faster as the starch crystallizes. A plastic bag tied off works better than a breadbox in staleness prevention.
So if you want healthy fresh bread, buy this beaut and you can't go wrong.

Panasonic NB-G100P 7.2-Quart 1300-Watt Infrared Toaster Oven Review

(More customer reviews)First I must say that this toaster oven makes better toast than any other toaster oven I have used. That said, there are a few things that disappointed me.
1. There is an on/off button. It would be better if using the other buttons turned it on automatically and it should turn off automatically when the cycle ends.
2. That light is bright! Very strange to have space-alien lighting emanating from the toaster over. A tinted door would be nice.
3. Not good for baking. This oven does a great job of heating the surface, but not so great heating the center of things. Even cookies did not fare well.
4. The oven is hotter in back and cooler in front. It even mentions this in the instructions. Large items such as pizza need to be rotated partway through heating.
5. The temperature increments are weird and won't match most recipes.
It does, however, make great toast. Even Pepperidge Farm's Texas Toast worked well. Any other toaster oven I have used has always toasted the top and bottom unevenly, leaving a crunchy top and soggy bottom. Grilled cheese sandwiches work great too. I love the Frozen Toast button - the button I use most. Hopefully Panasonic will correct the annoyances with the next model, but I'm still keeping this one.

(More customer reviews)I was pretty frightened to try this toaster, but I had one several years ago and after trying a much more expensive model that took at least 10 minutes to toast bread, I decided to try it, despite all the bad reviews. And for $40, what more do you want? The oven does indeed turn off when the bell rings and can toast frozen bread in about 5 minutes, slower than a regular toaster, but much faster than the high end countertop oven that I tried. I waited about a month to write this review, because I was expecting to see flames coming from the unit, but so far it's been fine. I've used this to reheat pork chops and steak and it has worked quite well and I really like the hooks that pull the rack out about an inch when the door is opened.

I went through so many sets of nonstick in my early married years, everything from the $30 "whole kitchen in a box" set I got as wedding gift to a "top of the line" set that my mother-in-law gave me years later. I babied the stuff, but it still wound up scratched and peeling and in the trash. And, I never liked the cooking performance of any of it. So, many years ago I threw it all out and bought an 18/10 stainless set- which I love and praise to anyone who will listen, and have never had to replace a single piece of. BUT, even I will admit that it's tough to get a decent fried egg from a stainless pan, so I kept an 8" nonstick skillet around just for that purpose. It was needing to be replaced so I decided to go with hard anodized. Hesitantly, I was going to get another brand with the teflon type finish. Then I saw this, and liked the idea of the the ceramic type finish. I can't tell you how much I love this pan. It fries beautifully. Sears salmon and steaks. Cleans with a wipe and a rinse. I have had this for a couple of months, used it MANY times, and am getting ready to buy the 12" for bigger jobs. Even my 8 year old can make beautiful(no tears)fried eggs with it. Oh, and did you know that you can thaw meats faster in it. Hard anodized is an amazing conducter of heat, so it pulls the cold out of the food. Just set it on the counter (covered) and wait about 20 minute (depends on thickness of the meat) turn it over once and voila you have thawed meat.

(More customer reviews)We decided to get a toaster oven to save heating up the large oven. We cook quite a bit, and were willing to buy what we wanted. Ended up looking at about 25 online and maybe a dozen in the stores. We were leaning toward the Hamilton beach model due to it's larger size and convection feature. We ended up with the kitchenAid due to the toaster and warmer feature. I think I would have been happy with either. The KA is quite heavy for it's size and seems well built. It is larger inside than it looks. It will easily hold a 3 quart casserole dish. It makes good toast, although it does take about 4-5 minutes. At least it does 6 slices at once. It is perfect for baking. It preheats in 5 minutes(the Hamilton Beach was reported to take up to 15 minutes). I have read about heat concerns on most toaster ovens so I put a thermometer on the outside and it gets to about 130 degrees when baking at 350. I thought that was within reason. I have to say it is a really good looking appliance. I can't speak to the durability, but if it holds up, I will be really happy.

- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.
Cons:
- none so far.
Notes:
- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.
