Fat Free, Flavor Full: Dr. Gabe Mirkin's Guide to Losing Weight & Living Longer Review

Fat Free, Flavor Full: Dr. Gabe Mirkin's Guide to Losing Weight and Living Longer

I lost 30 pounds in 6 months on this diet and kept it off. The reason this book succeeded for me where all other diets failed is that it supplied me with lots of recipes for food that I could stuff myself silly with. There is no limiting portions or stopping at one serving (with the high fiber, low fat recipes). I can make a whole pot of stew and eat the whole thing at one sitting if I want. It works for me because I find the recipes absolutely delicious. This book won't help people who dislike grains, beans or the exotic flavors it uses. But if you like this type of food, this is THE weight loss book to use!

Top Secret Recipes Lite Review

I've enjoyed previous editions of "Top Secret Recipes" by Todd Wilbur, and have been impressed yet again by the terrific recipes and food-chat offered in "Top Secret Recipes Lite!"
Food junkies will find their mouths watering as page after page of previously too-fatty recipes unfolds--and you can make them at home with everyday ingredients and not panic that you have gone overboard on your diet!
I plan on sending this book to my Dad who is living with heart disease and loves to whip up heart-healthy goodies in the kitchen. This book will provide lots of new "food for thought!"

Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook Momentum Program Edition Review

Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook Momentum Program Edition

I gave it a 3 star review because ii is IDENTICAL to the 2006 edition. I have just sat and compared the indexes for both books and so far have found NO difference. In fact, the cover picture for this edition is the picture from page 241 in the 2006 edition.
However, if you are looking for a good Betty Crocker meets WW type cookbook, then either edition (since they are the same) will fit the bill nicely and be a good addition to any WW'ers kitchens :)

The New American Heart Association Cookbook, 7th Edition Review

The New American Heart Association Cookbook, 7th Edition
Average Reviews:

Last February 1999 I was hospitalized for several weeks with a heart problem. After I was discharged I knew I had to do something about my weight. I purchased the New American Heart Association Cookbook and changed my eating habits. Using the recipes from this cookbook, along with an excellent walking program, I have lost almost 50 pounds between the end of February 1999 and August 1999. There are way too many good recipes for me to list, but several of my favorites are: Chicken Fajitas (I use the low-fat tortilla wrappers that you can find in any store), Crispy Baked Chicken, Asian Grilled Chicken and Vegetarian Chili. The best recommendation I can make for this book is to tell you that my doctor now tells me that I have a very healthy heart and I sincerely believe that I owe it to my walking program and the excellent recipes from The New American Heart Association Cookbook.

Great Good Food: Luscious Lower-Fat Cooking Review

Great Good Food: Luscious Lower-Fat Cooking

I have an extensive cookbook collection, and Great Good food has been a big disappointment. I have The New Basics and The Silver Palate, and each of them, while not favorites, have provided me with recipes which I have enjoyed. Both are also fairly easy to use. However, Great Good Food has never provided me with anything that I really wanted to make again. Moreover, searching for a particular type of recipe is a chore. Recipes are broken up into "menus" and "seasons". When, for example, I want to look for appetizers or a soup, I don't want to have to spend an hour flipping through the whole book looking to see whether I've missed anything. Convenient it is not.

I happened upon this book and thought I'd give it a shot. That was a year ago and I still use it a few times a week. The food is normal and delicious! My boyfriend loved almost everything I made from this book because it's stuff you would normally make. There are a few new things you will probably want to try, but also, if you have a favorite meal such as chicken cacciatore, beef stroganoff, or cheesecake this book has the recipe and shows you how to make it healthful and still delicious. I use the weight watchers points system and had no trouble converting recipes. It also gives exchange, fat and calorie values for dieters who use a different program. I highly recommend it! It's worth it!
