Winware Stainless Double Boilers Review

Sometimes you are suspect when an item may seem too "affordable" to be of good quality; no need to be a skeptic with this Winware s.s.double boiler. It is heavy with sturdy handles - not flat metal.
I did o.k. without a true double boiler for my cheese making, but got really tired of the constant fear that I'd ruin a batch of cheese or my 'kluged' double boiler would slip off the water pan. This will also be great for canning my hot, hot, hot salsa this summer.
For now, Tomme is on the schedule!
UPDATE: The double boiler's bottom pitted while making ricotta causing BLACK discoloration on the ricotta!. The acid from a couple of grains of the undissolved citric acid etched the double boiler.
My favorite engineer says that the pot is probably made from an inferior grade of stainless steel as any restaurant S.S. would not pit from exposure to acidic foods.
Also, the price on this item has increased by approximately $60 since I purchase item AND posted a review: about 10 days. Hmmmmmmm. Try another source or manufacturer if you need a quality Stainless steel item. Very disappointed. 02/05 Major price drop.

love this roaster! just the right size to roast a broiler/ fryer chicken butterflied!
can pretty much span two burners for better sauce reduction and the enamel cleans up nicely!
overall a great product but might be too small for a large family
also very pretty and great for lasagna!
havent tried it yet but I imagine it'd be great for cobblers and grunts as well!
one thing... havent used the rack yet so dont know how it cleans up... I roast on top of veggies
would absolutely recommend to friends!

A Southern take on the classic roasting pan, this 14-1/2-quart steel roasting pan from venerable Southern cook Paula Deen gets a stylish makeover with a porcelain enamel exterior that helps make clean up a breeze. It comes with a convenient metal rack that's great for roasting whole chickens and other meat, allowing fats and oils to drip off of the meat. The rack also promotes even heat distribution for perfect browning. The deep interior is also ideal for roasting vegetables. It features a speckled porcelain enamel exterior in red that's complemented by a contrasting white interior and shiny steel accent around the rim. It's broiler safe. Hand washing is recommended.
Paula Deen got her start with a lunchtime catering business in Savannah, Georgia called The Bag Lady before opening her successful restaurant, The Lady & Sons. And now she spreads her distinctive and authentic Southern delicacies--from real Southern fried chicken and hoecakes to Krispy Kreme bread pudding--via the Food Network and several best-selling cookbooks.
